Leafleting: Keep Hackney NHS PublicSubmitted by Janine on Fri, 24/02/2006 - 08:54.
01/01/1970 - 00:00 Are you free for an hour or two on Saturday? We will be leafleting and petitioning in Hoxton Market from 10.00 am onwards. Please join us if you can. We will be meeting in Hoxton Street at the top end of the market (near the back gate of St Leonard's Hospital). We're dealing with a rapidly changing situation. The Primary Care Trust (the NHS provider of community services) will be announcing cuts and redundancies on 13th March. The last set of rumours was hinting at the Trust being £6 million worse off than it had previously thought. The Government is also playing around with the funding to NHS organisations, leaving Trusts pretty much guessing how much money they're going to have by 1st April this year. If we do end up with cuts on this sort of scale in Hackney, the damage to NHS services and jobs will be immense. The Government has published its new NHS White Paper - lots of fine words, but the agenda is one of privatisation. The need to defend the NHS is clearer than ever. Gill George |
