Living Wage for Cleaners RallySubmitted by Janine on Wed, 01/03/2006 - 12:02.
31/12/1969 - 23:00 Dear all I would like to invite you to a historic event in the London Citizens Living Wage Campaign. We are holding a mass Rally for a Living Wage and Fair Employment in the City of London on Monday March 6th at lunchtime. The event will be held in the square outside the Head Office of KPMG. Despite their profits growing from £253 million in 2004 to £305 million in 2005, KPMG still pay their cleaners only £5.05 per hour with no sick pay. This makes KPMG one of the most unethical contractors of all the big banks in London. The event will call on KPMG to raise the wages and conditions of their contracted cleaners and call on all clients and contractors in the capital to adhere to the London Citizens Ethical Contracting charter. These cleaners are members of the TGWU City Cleaners Zone, a member of TELCO & London Citizens. Please come out and support your fellow Citizens in their campaign for Living Wage and Fair Employment. The Rally will be attended by scores of cleaners, members of London Citizens from across the capital, friends from the TGWU and other supporters of economic and social justice. Do bring friends and colleagues from your community - the more we are, the stronger we are. For more information please e-mail me. With kind regards Matthew Bolton Living Wage Organiser ( categories: T&GWU )
