CAMPAIGN TO DEFEND THE FIRE PRECAUTIONS (SUB SURFACE RAILWAY REGULATIONS) 1989

CALLING NOTICE – DEMONSTRATION OUTSIDE THE OFFICE OF THE DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER

MONDAY 27th MARCH, 11AM

As part of our campaign to retain the Fire Precautions (Sub-Surface Railway Stations Regulations) 1989 introduced after the Kings Cross Fire the union will be holding a demonstration on the above date.

The Government have indicated that they intend to repeal the fire safety regulations by April 2007. The union and our parliamentray group are still engaged in discussions with the government and it is vital that we continue to highlight the strength of feeling on this issue.

The demonstration on 27th March will coincide with the International Railway Workers Action Day under the theme – safety first!

The venue is to be confirmed as the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister is located at a number of different venues.

In the meantime please put the date and time in you diary and if you have not already done so ask your MP to sign the Early Day Motion.

More information to follow.

Yours sincerely

Bob Crow

General Secretary, RMT
