It is now unlawful to discriminate either directly or indirectly against workers on the basis of their age. This should be a reason for celebration, but many workers are worried that the provisions will be used to undermine existing terms and conditions, including service-related increments in pay and annual leave and retirement and pension provisions. Hackney TUC will be holding a workshop to discuss the regulations, place them in the context of existing protection against discrimination, and explore how workplace reps can ensure that the regulations are implemented without undermine our hard-won benefits. - at Marcon Court Community Hall (corner of Amhurst Road and Marcon Place, London E8). All trade unionists welcome. ( categories: Meetings, minutes, policy | for equality )
