The struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, or it may be both. But it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand; it never has and it never will. |
East London Line: writing to your MPSubmitted by Janine on Sat, 04/11/2006 - 17:25.
Local RMT member John Leach wrote this letter to Meg Hillier ... Dear Ms Hillier I am writing to you as my MP to ask you put your signature to Early Day Motion 2398 EAST LONDON LINE. As you know I wrote to before with regards to EDM 549 Fire Precautions Regulations, which I am very pleased has your support. It is along a similar principle that I would ask you to support the East London Line remaining in the Public sector. Public ownership of the London Tube has been in place since the 1930s.The safety arguments of running a service based on need not profit, I believe, go without saying. As a Labour MP I trust you share that view. So far the operation of the London Underground has remained in public ownership, it is vital that it remains so. The extension of the ELL is a great thing, only if serves the people who use it, on the public service ethos that Labour for generations was proud of. Please support the East London Line remaining in the hands of the people, and help keep the privateers and profit grabbers off of it. Yours sincerely John Leach ( categories: Rail unions | Stop East London Line privatisation )
