Solidarity With Rail And Tube CleanersSubmitted by Janine on Wed, 10/01/2007 - 10:47.
On Monday 8th January, Rail and Tube cleaners protested at City Hall against attacks on cleaning jobs. Their union, RMT, was demanding that Mayor Ken Livingstone intervene to stop cleaning contractor ISS from cutting over 200 jobs. You can read the RMT press release here. The cleaners were joined on the protest by railworkers of other grades, including drivers, signallers and station staff. Hackney TUC has a gallery of photographs of the protest, which you can view here. Click on the small (thumbnail) images to see a bigger version of each picture. |
