Ricky Jones has been the Residential Caretaker for William Patten Primary School for 10 years. He is also the Unison Convenor for Hackney Education
He lives on the school site with his wife and 3 children, two of whom have been born since living there on the premises and two of whom attend the Primary School.

On 12 February 2008 the school management presented Ricky with paperwork informing him of the proposal to make the position of Residential Caretaker redundant.

If this proposal goes ahead Ricky and his young family will be evicted from their home. This will be the final act in a series of acts of victimisation which Ricky has endured because he is an effective trade unionist.

It is essential that trade unionists from across the borough come together to show unity in the face of the attack on Unison’s Education Convenor. If we cannot defend our activists, then we will never win justice in the workplace.
