Help distribute the Hackney anti-BNP tabloid

Submitted by Janine on Sun, 03/05/2009 - 12:09.

As part of our campaign to revive community politics in Hackney and to keep the BNP from wining a seat in the European Parliament, we are having 50,000 tabloid newspapers printed for distribution across the borough.

You can see extracts of what the paper looks like by visiting the blog: Hackney unites: http://hackneyunites.blogspot.com/ scroll down till you see the images. If you click on the images, they will enlarge.

These are not the final proofs, but they give an indication of the style and content. We have two important additional quotes, one from Matthew Coggins and one from Munaf Zeena, Chair of North London Muslim Community Centre. We have always said this is a campaign over which the communities in Hackney are united. In the paper we will have voices speaking out from across the political spectrum, from campaign, trade union and community representatives, as well as from the Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities. This unity is something to celebrate and, we believe, a step towards rejuvenating community based politics in the borough. Strong communities are the best defence against the spread of BNP influence.

We are meeting on Tuesday 5 May, at the Trinity Centre on Beachwood Road at 7pm, to organise door-to-door distribution of these tabloid papers across the borough (for a map visit http://www.opendi.co.uk/london/1712427.html).

Can you help with distribution in your ward? Whether it is doing just one or two streets, or volunteering to co-ordinate other volunteers, every offer of help will be invaluable.

If you can help, please let me know by return of email.

If you can, please also attend the meeting on Tuesday, where you will meet volunteers from your ward.

If you cannot attend, but can assist with distribution, please let me know.

If you can attend on Tuesday with a vehicle, then you will be able to take away a bundle of papers. However, if you need us to deliver a bundle of papers to you we can also arrange this.

Many thanks to those who have already indicated their support.

Can you also, please cascade this email onto friends, family, neighbours, work colleagues and through other networks to ensure that as many people as possible have the chance to show their support.

If you wish to join or leave our email distribution list, please email john.page45@btinternet.com
