London Organisers' Network - Workers centres & low wage workers: organising at the bottom of the labour market

Speaker: Janice Fine - Assistant Professor, Rutgers University
Senior Fellow for Organizing and Policy at the Center for Community Change (CCC). Her book Worker Centers: Organizing Communities at the Edge of the Dream was released in January of 2006 by Cornell University Press and the Economic Policy Institute.

From 1981-83 Janice was the President of United States Student Association. During the 1980s, she worked for the AFL-CIO in Broward County, Florida, Massachusetts Fair Share in Boston. In the early 1990s, she worked for the Massachusetts AFL-CIO and the Massachusetts Building and Construction Trades Council. For ten years, until 2003, Janice was the Organizing Director at Northeast Action, the hub of a regional network of state wide progressive coalitions, unions and citizen action groups.

LON is an open, inclusive network for those committed to an organising approach to building the trade union movement. It is open to both full time union employees and union members regardless of union or political affiliation.
