This is a note to inform you that on Wednesday 12 May, we will be having a Hackney Unites meeting from 7pm, to 8.30pm, (please note correct time), at the Trinity Centre, Beechwood Road, Dalston, E8 3DY.

The aim of the meeting will be to tie up any loose ends regarding the details of the Celebrate Hackney event (to be held on Saturday 5 June) and to organise the distribution of our tabloid paper to promote it.

The conference now has over 50 speakers, in 15 workshops, as well as a film show and children’s events. The tabloid has features on the Hackney Empire campaign, the Sam Hallam campaign, the Workers Advice Project, the borough of Sanctuary project and much, much more. Now we just need to ensure they go through people’s letter boxes.

We have 50,000 to distribute, so it is going to be a question of dividing the task up into manageable pieces. Our aim is that most volunteers take 300 papers to distribute near where they live, however, that will require about 150 volunteers

We will be organising distribution on a ward by ward basis and encouraging teams of volunteers to work together to make it less of a chore and to maximise coverage.

If you have already volunteered, thank-you, and can you think of two or three friends who you could rope in to help?

If you haven’t volunteered yet, then please consider doing so, the more volunteers we have the easier it will be.

You will be able to collect papers from the Trinity Centre on 12 May (the parking restrictions are not in place after 6pm) or we can deliver them to your door. Please let us know what you can do, and how many papers you need.

If you are able to take a number of papers for display in a community centre, or are able to display them at forthcoming events, then please let us know.

I will be circulating images of the paper as soon as we have them from the designer. Thank you to everyone who has helped out.
