The East London Line, used by 10.4 million passengers a year, is part of the London Underground network. The line currently runs between Whitechapel to New Cross and New Cross Gate.

Jennette Arnold’s distortions on rail privatisation

I am appalled at the latest News from Jennette Arnold AM London Assembly Member which carries an article entitled “Bob Crow has his say”.

Last month, I wrote to the Gazette opposing the planned privatisation of the East London Line and challenging Ken Livingstone and TfL to give one good reason why the new 'London Overground' should be run by a private operator. As far as I can see, they have not replied. Perhaps Gazette readers will draw their own conclusions.

NEARLY THREE-QUARTERS of people in London and the southeast want the East London Line's operations kept in the public sector, according to an Ipsos MORI poll commissioned by RMT, London Underground's biggest union.
