SearchUser loginLike they said...Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation, are people who want crops without ploughing the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning; they want the ocean without the roar of its many waters. The struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, or it may be both. But it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand; it never has and it never will. |

Massive Attack - Massive VictorySubmitted by Janine on Sat, 08/07/2006 - 09:23.
by Gill George, Keep Hackney NHS Public We've had a stunning victory over the Government's plans to privatise huge chunks of the NHS - you have probably seen the media coverage over the last two days. The Government is in real disarray over the NHS - and much of the credit goes to local Hackney activists! Campaigners warn of 'massive threat to NHS'Submitted by Janine on Wed, 28/06/2006 - 08:34.
From Gill George, Chair, Keep Hackney NHS Public Some horrific new government proposals emerged yesterday. There is an advert in the 'Official Journal of the European Union' that effectively flogs off the whole of the NHS to the private sector. This is not just a Government proposal - this is an advert that's already gone out inviting private companies to submit bids for pretty much whatever they want. Dear Supporter Sadly, healthcare in Hackney goes from bad to worse. You probably know that the Homerton has a financial shortfall of around £7 million - not due to financial mismanagement, but entirely due to changes to the national tariff just before the beginning of the financial year.
